The fundraiser is still on!
Help us raise $5000 for the Lumad Community, Indigenous people in the Philippines who are receiving NO governmental support and been forcibly evacuated from their ancestral lands (even before COVID-19).
How will the $5000 be used?
$400 will provide food and toiletries
$1000 will support (1) generator for the evacuation center or schools
$1600 will purchase a piso-wifi machine for indigenous students at a free boarding school for indigenous peoples (IP) from peasant backgrounds, CTCSM. The Dept of Ed is calling for classes to resume online on Aug 24 and many IPs are already at a disadvantage; not only with lack of access to wifi in the rural communities they come from, but not having access to wifi in their boarding school. State forces are trying to shut down the school's neighbors who provide piso-wifi as passive income to keep the school disconnected from the community, locally and internationally.
$2000 will buy garden tools, seeds, materials for the community of (540) in evacuation to support their sustainable agriculture rehabilitation efforts

Learn More about jessica
Since childhood, martial arts has always been part of Jessica’s life. She studied various forms including karate, tae kwon do, kali, wing chun, muay thai, and boxing. As she continued her craft, Jessica’s self-confidence and the feeling of empowerment thrived in her everyday life. This was something that she wanted to carry and help others with. It was through a series of difficult life situations and challenges that led to lessons in self-care, including the understanding of resilience and how finding one’s voice happens when you take the time to nurture yourself. Jessica’s loss of one of her closest friends led her on a mission to act as a resource and coach, developing self-care practices that tie naturally to boxing/martial arts, specifically for women and the LGBTQ community. She envisions her teachings building confidence and one's ability to not only survive, but thrive. Thus, Baks Naman! was created.

Learn More About Sammay
SAMMAY (she/they/siya) is the daughter of Yolanda Peñaflor Dizon; granddaughter of Salvacion Orencillo Peñaflor and Carolina Agdeppa Dizon. Experience story telling to illustrate how beatboxing, as a fundamental element of hip-hop, builds community while having fun learning basic beatbox sounds and techniques!
Learn more about Mike tinoco
I discovered beatboxing as a teenager during a very low point in my life. In many ways, it saved my life. What started out as a hobby developed into a deep passion that opened doors for me I couldn't have dreamed of when I started. I became part of a very diverse community of beatboxers in the Bay Area who performed frequently. I helped organize and produce beatbox shows in SF and Berkeley. Got to travel overseas, be on tv, share the stage with hip-hop legends including Rahzel and Scratch from The Roots, Doug E. Fresh, and more. But most importantly, beatboxing led me back to the classroom as an educator, for which I am eternally grateful.
As a teacher I am committed to working alongside his students, educators, and the people in transforming oppressive conditions and creating a culture of positive peace that demands justice, centers love, and holds room for everyone to be part of beloved communities.

SESSION DETAILS
This session is a somatic healing body session and visual art sharing to help us be in relationship to awareness of how we carry our Colonized and Decolonizing selves in relation to each other. I invite us to be in this prayer and to create together wayfinders for our individual and relational healing.
Learn more about jana
My name is Jana Lynne Caldetera Umipig, daughter of Rosemarie Caldetera Umipig (Pagudpud, Ilokos Norte) and Godofredo Peralta Umipig (Santa Maria, Ilokos Sur). Born and raised on the Kingdom of Hawaii and also raised on Yokuts Territory (Stockton, CA). My current and closest relation to land is the Lenape Territory (Bronx, NY). I am a cultural bearer and truth teller through my multidisciplinary artistic expression/creation work, my role as an educator and sharer of knowledge, my duty as healer in uplifting the healer within all who come to exchange with me and a warrior of resistance, radical change and liberation movements . I embody my Sacred Work at every turn of my existence and understand my life as Ceremony and Spiritual Practice. Because of this truth, I believe that the service of artistic and healing work cannot be conducted in this "Time of Decolonization" without seeing our spirits intertwined to our justice, dignity and freedom. I invite us all to be in relation to how our integrity and honor are tightly bound to our liberation, and when we compromise them to capitalistic, patriarchal and white supremacist ties, our freedom is ceded. I am a humble co-creator of the Sacred Circles of Center for Babaylan Studies, Raised Pinay, and Survival Arts. She currently is working on her first book- "Re-memberings of a Colonized Child."

Revolutionizing Our Relationship to Death
@11:45AM - 12:05PM PST
SESSION DETAILS
Death is a complex force in our society- simultaneously stigmatized and glamorized. Yet for the most part, our society abhors death and creates many barricades to defend against it. However, there is a special power accessible to those who form a sacred and reverent relationship with death.
learn more about nova
My name is Nova and I am the founder & vision keeper for the Genesis Healing Institute. It has been the joy of my life to be a part of the maturation of Genesis over the last two years. I am truly blessed to know and work with a remarkable team of caring, courageous and visionary leaders who are all centrally committed to the healing of people and the planet.
As an Envoy, I spend most of my days in spiritual practice- trying as best I can to tend to all of my aspirations & my wounds as well as the lineage of gifts & trauma I’ve inherited. I hope by the time my life on this Earth concludes, I would have meaningfully interceded or laid to rest the cycles of separation, grief, violence and delusion which were gifted to me at birth.
When I began this journey in 2016, I was burned out, traumatized and relentlessly haunted by my own hypocrisy. I was hurting the people around me as a result of my addictions, suffering and fear. Unable to recognize the person I had become, I left everything I knew and set out to try to find some form of healing. However, I had no idea how to begin or what to do. This is why I am so grateful for my teachers and elders. They found me, welcomed me, loved me, supported me and guided me when I was at my most vulnerable and depleted. I’m sure it was not easy for my teachers, given the level of delusion, arrogance, fear and sorrow that I was carrying. It is because of their teaching and love that I am even alive today.
All of the ways I lived without integrity, out of fear or out of malice in my previous life, have now become essential teachings and guides for me. Though I have shed many of the imposed identities which had internally imprisoned me for most of my life, I am still a young Padawan in this journey and there is still much for me to tend to and much to learn.
I do my best to lead a fairly simple life and try to be a blessing to all those that I meet.

Lani Love
Learn more about lani
At 25 after going from close to 300lbs to less than 200lbs in less than a year, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with a tumor the size of a grapefruit. It became hard to breathe and walk. I saw this as a blessed invitation to awaken the buddha within, strengthen my relationship with God and love myself deeper while kicking cancer to the curb. Eleven years later soon after I got married to my soul mate I was faced with the biggest challenge of my life: severe heart failure at 37 years young causing me to be bed ridden for 2 years, flatlining, and having to have a pace-maker and 3 stents! I truly am grateful and embrace my beautiful journey. It has taught me how to fully surrender, trust and build my direct connection with God! Now in my late 40’s, I put the heart in heart-warrior and am in the best shape spiritually, physically and mentally! My healing has never been only about me though, it’s truly about awakening, assisting and reminding others to return back to love. I know there’s a reason that God keeps saving me over and over and that is to share my testimony of how God’s love continues to heal and transform me everyday. This has inspired my mission to assist families of colors to break generational traumas and receive guidance from our ancestors so today’s and future generations can thrive! I want us all to win and I am honored to serve any which way by sharing the tools, reinforcements, gifts and wisdom I have learned and continue to learn along the way. Sending you all endless love, light and blessings always to the utmost high!
